Mission Statement

The Black Mountain Police Department, in partnership with OUR community, are committed to providing impartial, ethical and professional law enforcement service and protection.  Through open communications, we will strive to build upon the trust and confidence of our citizens and to all those who may visit, work in or travel through OUR community.  We are likewise committed to the preservation of life, property and improving the quality of life without prejudice or bias, with respect for the rights of all people and to ensure a safe and secure environment for all.



Vision Statement

In order to preserve a high quality of life and safety for the town’s citizens, all members of the Black Mountain Police Department are committed to serve with professionalism, respect, and concern for the town. To optimize the use of our resources, the Department balances a firm and quick response to all forms of crime with community problem solving and current crime prevention approaches. The Department is mission oriented in all of its priorities and activities. 

The Department’s philosophy and work processes reflect modern, high quality law enforcement concepts and technologies that involves every member of the Department in an effort to continually improve all areas of administration and operations. Quality leadership at all levels reflect the Department’s commitment to a strong work ethic, while valuing diversity, promoting an environment conducive of learning, enhancing, and maintaining flexibility. 

The Black Mountain Police Department constantly strives for effectiveness in crime prevention/fighting, for operative collaboration with all town departments, and for providing support and leadership with all local law enforcement efforts. The Black Mountain Police Department recruits, hires, trains, supports, and retains qualified law enforcement personnel who will make a positive impact on our agency as well as those we serve.
