Citizen Involvement
We encourage all interested citizens to apply for membership on one or more of the vacant positions that occur in July of each year.

Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board
The Black Mountain ABC Board is responsible for the general oversight of the Black Mountain ABC store.

Greenways Commission
The Greenways Commission exists to advise the Board of Aldermen about greenways development and management, to work with staff to develop the greenways system, and to actively promote public education and awareness of the benefits of greenways.

Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission was established in 2001 to preserve and raise awareness of structures that have local, state, or federal historical significance.

Planning Board
The Planning Board provides additional planning recommendations to the Board of Aldermen and the Zoning Board of Adjustment as appropriate, and pursue other studies or planning initiatives as directed by the Board of Aldermen.

Recreation Commission
Recreation Commission members provide input and guidance on the development of long range plans for the Recreation Department including direction on program offerings and the development of recreational facilities.

Urban Forestry Commission
The Urban Forestry Commission was established to study assist in the administration of the Town of Black Mountain tree ordinance as it pertains to advice on the regulation of tree planting, maintenance, and removal on publicly owned and maintained property within the Town of Black Mountain.

Zoning Board of Adjustment
The purpose of the Zoning Board of Adjustment is to hear and decide appeals from and review any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official charged with enforcement of an ordinance adopted pursuant to the land use regulations adopted by the Town of Black Mountain.
