Police Auxiliary staff are a group of dedicated sworn law enforcement volunteers that provide a variety of services to the community.
The Police Auxiliary Officer Program is comprised of citizens who have completed basic law enforcement training and retired police officers who wish to volunteer as a Auxiliary Police Officer with the Black Mountain Police Department. These officers augment the full-time officers in a variety of duties throughout the Department. Auxiliary Officers patrol in vehicles, on foot patrols or on bicycle patrol. Auxiliary Officers assist with Town events by providing traffic control and patrol services which help alleviate the burden on the full-time officers working shift.
This program is ideal for individuals who have an established career and do not wish to make a transition to full-time Police Officer. Auxiliary Officers can enjoy the best of both worlds by maintaining their chosen career while helping to police the Town of Black Mountain. Auxiliary police officers are required to maintain the same certifications and standards that are met by full-time Police Officers.
