The Patrol Division is the backbone of the Black Mountain Police Department. The men and women within the Patrol Division fall under the supervision of the Operations Commander and are committed to preventing and combating crime in the City of Black Mountain through a proactive approach to law enforcement. All Division members are highly trained and adept in responding to emergency and other calls for service and are committed to a mission of preserving life and protecting the public and property.
The Patrol Division is comprised of four squads that are supervised by a sergeant. Patrol provides basic call response and police services to the Town of Black Mountain, including emergency incident response, routine call response, accident investigation, and traffic enforcement. It also conducts ordinance and statute enforcement, preliminary crime scene investigations, nuisance and criminal investigations. The Department proactively initiates saturation patrols and special enforcement details.
The Patrol Division continues to focus on the criminal cycle involving theft, fraud, and narcotics related issues. It utilizes educational strategies to raise the awareness of citizens and businesses, coupled with proactive enforcement actions to impact and curtail issues within the Town.
