Fire Stations
The Town of Black Mountain has 3 fire stations staffed with 31 paid firefighters and 25 volunteer firefighters. They serve two fire districts, including the East Buncombe Fire District and protect 54 square miles and more than 16,000 residents. Each fire station has a specific territory in which they respond. Firefighters are on duty 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Citizens are welcome to visit any Town of Black Mountain fire station for tours, to have their blood pressure checked, or to learn more about the department and the services we offer.
Main Station
The main fire station is located on Montreat Road and is staffed 24 hours a day, call pending. The main station is housed in the same building complex as the Black Mountain Police Department. In addition to Engine 4, our newest fire engine apparatus, the main station also houses Engine 41, Rescue 4, Engine 45, Truck 4, Squad 4, Brush 4, and an ATV and UTV.
The main station is equipped with a multi-use training room and also houses a mini-museum containing our oldest fire engine apparatus, a 1926 American LaFrance which was purchased in 1926 along with other historical items. The fire museum offers visitors the experience of stepping back in time to witness the rich history of our humble beginnings. We are appreciative to those before us who had the forethought to preserve our history over the past 100 years and are grateful to those with us today who share in the pride of our department.
Fire Station #2
Fire Station #2 is located on White Pine Drive at the entrance to Veterans Park South and is nestled next to the Grey Eagle Arena. This station is staffed 24 hours a day, call pending and houses Engine 42 and Tanker 42.
Fire Station #3
Fire Station #3 is located in the Laurel Ridge community and is unmanned.
