[ARCHIVED] Fire Department Training

The Black Mountain Fire Department will be using shipping containers to simulate a real-life fire by using modified shipping containers meant to resemble a real burning building. This training will be taking place on our training grounds located at 1 Arnett Drive.

Firefighters entering the structure will wear air packs (SCBA), however there will be no need for others on the training grounds observing, or citizens in the vicinity to use self-contained breathing apparatus air. Smoke may be intermittent throughout the day during the training. Training is subject to be conducted during day time or night time operations.

The training grounds are not only used for live fire and smoke, training also include skills such as rescuing a trapped firefighter, raising and lowering of ladders, search and rescue training, vehicle extrications. The location of the training grounds has been in place since the early 1980’s allowing the department to train and remain in the district available for responses.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as our fire department conducts this potentially lifesaving training. When the citizens in our community call for help, they expect and deserve the very best from us when we respond. We accomplish this by doing consistent, relevant, and quality training of our personnel.

If you have questions, please reach out to the Black Mountain Fire Department at (828) 419-9331.
