[ARCHIVED] Linus Project - Calling All Quilters!

Linus Quilt Group2

CALLING ALL QUILTERS!  (former, current and new).   Join the renewed gathering of quilters for the LINUS PROECT in Black Mountain:

For over 20 years several quilters have met at the Tomahawk Center in Black Mountain once a month to facilitate the making of quilts for the LINUS PROJECT.  After a necessary hiatus of 2 years when Covid 19 hit, it is time to start up again on April 1, 2022!  Some of us have continued to make quilts but the need is great!  There are also lots of tops waiting for someone to finish them waiting in homes and at the Center.

In the past this group has pinned quilt layers together, provided donated fabric and limited batting (from the Asheville Quilt Guild) and shared quick and easy patterns for members.  We have helped new quilters to get started and provided tips and problem solutions for more experienced ones.  It has been an informal busy group where we share ideas and get to know one another while working at the above.

No tools or machines are necessary to bring as almost all of the sewing is done at home.  Members may bring unfinished tops to get help completing them or volunteer to take one home to practice machine quilting.  There are cutting tools, ironing boards and a couple of machines to help out.

With this new start there will be discussion of what is most needed and what people would like to do now.

So consider attending the first renewed meeting of the “Black Mountain Linus Group” on Friday, April 1 at 1:00 on the lower level of the Tomahawk Center at Lake Tomahawk in Black Mountain.  We need lots of new members!

Contact Sara Hill at saraprhill@bellsouth.net with questions.  Hope to see you there!
