Meet the Town's planner, Russell Cate. We welcomed Russell to our staff in August. We are excited to have him on the team, and know his education and experience will benefit the residents of Black Mountain.
Russell has called Asheville home for 20 years, has family living at Highland Farms and has nieces who attended Camp Merri-Mac.
He received his masters in regional planning from the State University of New York, Albany, and began his planning career in 1999 with the City
of College Park, Maryland. His career has focused on economic development and affordable housing. Before coming to the Town of Black Mountain, Russell worked for a number of years with state and local programs in North Carolina that help low-to-moderate income renters. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, hiking and jogging along area greenways.
