On August 16th -18th 2021, Tropical Storm Fred impacted the state of North Carolina with high-speed winds and high velocity flood waters that washed out the wooden Golf Cart Bridge located nearest the Green Tee Grille portion of the cart path. The cart bridge was approximately 22 ft L x 6 ft wide and was constructed around 1971. The cart bridge sustained irreparable damages from the storm where the abutments and part of the stream bank were washed away. The town sought assistance from FEMA to repair the cart bridge back to pre-disaster conditions. The town is grateful to Black Mountain Builders for the contract work they are performing to finally see this project through completion!
