STAND T.A.L.L. Provides Travel Safety Carrier for Black Mountain PD’s K-9s
Last year, STAND T.A.L.L. donated a K-9 Field Trauma Kit to the Black Mountain K-9 corp. Knowing that our organization stands ready to help area law enforcement, Black Mountain K-9 Supervisor, Lt. Chris Staton, contacted Sharon Hanson, vice president of STAND T.A.L.L. to request a piece of K-9 safety equipment for use when transporting their K-9 Cayman in their patrol vehicle. Ms. Hanson went directly to her Board which approved the purchase and has been working to raise the more than $3,000 needed to purchase the transport carrier for that department.
According to Ron Kauffman, President of STAND T.A.L.L. “Ms. Hanson has been the leader of all our K-9 protection efforts in the counties we serve for the past four years, and we’re hopeful that the citizens of Black Mountain will step up and donate to help us pay for this piece of equipment.
Ms. Hanson subsequently contacted Lt. Staton, of the Black Mountain PD to inform him that the K-9 carrier unit would be delivered, and the department could schedule the installation at their convenience. “That’s wonderful news,” said Staton, “we’re very grateful. I can’t tell you how much it means to us to have an organization like STAND T.A.L.L. available to step up to help us and all law enforcement in Western North Carolina. I am very pleased they were able to help us, and we have already scheduled the installation of the carrier in our K-9 vehicle.”
He went on to say, “K-9s represent a major investment for those of us in law enforcement, and the risk is too high to not be able to protect our canine officers when they are on duty and being transported on calls to the field.”
The presentation of the K-9 Transport Carrier was made by VP Sharon Hanson and Ron Kauffman, President of STAND T.A.L.L. to Lt. Staton, Officer Newhouse and Cayman, his K-9 at the Police Department in Black Mountain. (See attached photo)
