Town of Black Mountain Water Distribution System

Conserve Water Advisory - Ongoing

The extremely low temperatures and high-water demand continues to place an unusual strain on the Town of Black Mountain and City of Asheville’s water distribution systems. Please conserve water and delay unnecessary water use to help avoid low or no water pressure for all customers.

The water system is experiencing higher water consumption levels. At this time, it is believed the higher consumption levels are being driven by multiple factors to include burst pipes, more people at home due to the holidays and customers proactively allowing water to drip in homes to avoid burst pipes in the recent extreme weather conditions. The Water Department is grateful for the proactive measures taken but now requests people refrain from allowing faucets to drip during the daytime hours due to the impacts on the overall water system. Please avoid unnecessary water usage by limiting or shortening showers, delaying laundry or running the dishwasher. The greatest need now is to keep as much water in the system as possible.

The Town is asking water customers to check their crawl spaces or basements and to report any water breaks or leaks.  If you see any running water on the streets or in ditches, please also report this by contacting customer service at 828-419-9313 or email customer service at csr@tobm.org. To report an after-hours water emergency, please call 828-779-0441

Thank You
